Breast cancer recovery can bring challenges that continue well beyond surgery. At InHands, care is provided by licensed medical professionals with advanced training in lymphedema and postoperative rehabilitation. Our Certified Lymphedema Therapists provide specialized care for lymphedema, swelling, cording, scar and soft tissue restriction, and changes in upper-body mobility following breast cancer surgery and treatment. Care is individualized to your stage of recovery and coordinated with your medical team's recommendations.

A Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) is a licensed healthcare professional who has completed advanced, specialized training in the evaluation and management of lymphedema. This training includes techniques used to manage swelling and support lymphatic function, including manual lymphatic drainage, compression, therapeutic exercise, skin care and patient education.
At InHands, several of our providers are Certified Lymphedema Therapists with specialized training relevant to breast cancer-related lymphedema and recovery after breast surgery and lymph node procedures. Their care is individualized to each patient's treatment history, symptoms and stage of recovery and coordinated with the recommendations of the patient's medical team.

Lymphedema & Swelling: Specialized lymphatic care to help manage fluid accumulation and support healthy lymphatic function.
Cording (Axillary Web Syndrome): Therapy to address the tight, cord-like tissue that can develop after lymph node procedures and affect arm movement.
Scar & Soft Tissue Restriction: Gentle, targeted techniques to improve tissue mobility after incisions have healed and treatment has been cleared by your medical team.
Shoulder & Upper-Body Mobility: Therapy to address tightness and restricted movement that may occur after breast surgery, reconstruction or radiation.
Compression Support: Guidance and garment fitting when compression is appropriate as part of a patient's lymphedema or swelling-management plan.
Breast cancer treatment can affect the lymphatic system, soft tissue and upper-body mobility in different ways. Our providers tailor care to your procedure, treatment history, symptoms and stage of recovery. We commonly support patients following:
• Lumpectomy
• Mastectomy
• Sentinel lymph node biopsy
• Axillary lymph node dissection
• Breast reconstruction
• Radiation therapy
Treatment is individualized and follows the recommendations and precautions of your surgeon, oncologist or medical team.
Cording, also known as axillary web syndrome, can develop after breast surgery or lymph node procedures. It may feel like a tight cord extending from the underarm into the arm and can cause tightness or limit comfortable movement.
InHands providers use gentle, individualized therapy to address tissue restriction and help improve arm and shoulder mobility. Treatment is tailored to your stage of healing and coordinated with your medical team's recommendations.

Gentle, specialized techniques may be used when appropriate to support lymphatic flow and help manage swelling.
Hands-on techniques can help address scar and soft tissue restriction after healing has progressed and treatment is medically appropriate.
Individualized movement and exercise can help improve shoulder, arm and upper-body mobility following breast cancer surgery and treatment.
When appropriate, we provide compression guidance, garment support and education to help patients manage swelling and lymphedema between visits.
Licensed Medical Professionals: Care is provided by licensed clinicians with specialized training in postoperative and lymphatic care.
Certified Lymphedema Therapists: Our CLTs have advanced training in lymphedema management, including care for breast cancer-related lymphedema.
